Cloyes, based in Fort Smith, Ark., is the North American leader and a global designer, developer, manufacturer, and distributor of timing drive systems and components for the automotive aftermarket. Its products are mission critical components for engine performance and function and are used in high-performance and replacement applications.

Cloyes Offers Technicians A Complete Repair Solution with Variable Valve Timing Chain Kits in North America

As the automotive aftermarket industry’s leading manufacturer and distributor of timing system components and kits, Cloyes Gear and Products today announced the release of timing chain kits with variable valve timing (VVT) actuators, providing professional technicians with a complete repair solution.

Designed for the replacement of worn or damaged timing chains, tensioners, sprockets, guides, and VVT actuators, also known as cam phasers, Cloyes timing chain VVT kits are the convenient solution when replacing all major components in a timing chain job.

For 3V Ford 4.6-liter and 5.4-liter applications, Cloyes has developed a uniquely designed actuator that is superior to the OE product. Testing against the OE actuator, the Cloyes units exhibited 20 percent less frictional drag and produced 10 percent more torque at the same oil pressure. Used OE actuators can hemorrhage oil to and from rotor chambers through worn rotor vanes that drag/seal along the stator ID. The Cloyes actuators use tightly toleranced, long duration rotor vanes that do not contact the stator, therefore eliminating the wear and drag of the OE and other aftermarket designed units.

The first two timing chain VVT kits from Cloyes provide coverage for nearly 5 million vehicles in operation. In 2019, Cloyes will complete the development of additional timing chain VVT kits for a wide range of popular applications in the North American market.

Cloyes Expands Timing Chain Water Pump Kit Product Line

With intense focus on increased coverage and continued service to its customers, Cloyes today announced the expansion of its timing chain water pump kit product line. The three new kits from Cloyes are for Nissan, Infiniti, and Suzuki 3.5-liter and 4.0-liter V6 engine applications, including 2002 – 2019 350Z, Altima, Equator, G35, Maxima, Murano, Pathfinder, Quest, Xterra, and more. These kits provide coverage for 3 million vehicles-in-operation (VIO) in North America.

Designed for the replacement of worn or damaged timing chains, tensioners, sprockets, guides, and water pumps, Cloyes timing chain water pump kits provide professional technicians and do-it-yourself customers with a complete repair solution.

Cloyes water pumps are tested in a full operational RPM range with eight different test parameters, including torque, flow, outlet pressure, temperature, inlet pressure, axis power, efficiency, and lift

Timing chain-driven water pumps should always be replaced at the same time as the timing chain to reduce warranties, customer comebacks, and preserve long-term system performance. Water pump replacement rates are nearly eight times higher than timing chain replacement rates, according to the Auto Care Association.

Cloyes in 2019 unveiled its timing chain water pump kit line with the launch of kits for General Motors (GM) 2.0, 2.2, and 2.4-liter Ecotec engines that cover nearly 10 million VIO in North America.
