Ideal Supply Inc. has announced the appointment of Steve Van Kessel as Director of Sales – Automotive Division.

The company said Van Kessel brings extensive automotive aftermarket experience along with a strong track record in leadership, strategic planning, and relationship development across customers, suppliers, and distribution teams.

In his new role, Van Kessel will lead the continued development and execution of Ideal Supply’s automotive sales strategy, strengthen key industry relationships, and support growth initiatives across the division as the company prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026.

Van Kessel has been with Ideal Supply since late 2021 when the company acquired his family business Parry Automotive, holding progressively senior leadership roles including Business Development Manager, Regional Operations Manager – North, and most recently Automotive Sales Manager.

Prior to joining Ideal Supply, Van Kessel spent more than 27 years with his family business Parry Automotive, serving as President and Partner. During that time, he led operations for the Orillia-based automotive parts distributor and machine shop business, overseeing fiscal management, team development, supplier relationships, and operational strategy.

“I’ve spent my career in the automotive aftermarket, building relationships, developing teams, and finding practical ways to drive growth,” said Van Kessel.

“My focus is on aligning strategy with execution, supporting our regional teams, and strengthening the partnerships that are critical to long-term success.”

His industry experience also includes serving as Chairman of the Board for Modern Sales Cooperative, where he helped guide governance development and strategic direction for the member-owned organization.

Beyond his professional career, Van Kessel has also been active in industry and community volunteer leadership. He has served for decades on the Marketing Advisory Board for the Automotive Business School of Canada, supporting education and industry development initiatives.

He is also a long-time Director with the Kiwanis Club of Orillia, where he has been involved since 2000, with a particular focus on programs supporting children and community service projects.

Ideal Supply said Van Kessel’s leadership and industry background will support the continued growth and evolution of its automotive division as the company enters its next century of operation.
