Shad’s R&R fundraiser launching online drive

SHAD’s R&R aftermarket charity golf tournament has been cancelled for 2021 but organizers are launching an inspirational online campaign in conjunction with Muscular Dystrophy Canada (MDC).

SHAD’s R&R For The Kids is the largest single day fundraiser for MDC in Canada and has donated over $5.2M and changed the lives of those afflicted with neuromuscular disorders.

This year’s event marks 47 years for the SHAD’s R&R Tournament. Each June some 300 aftermarket executives from across Canada and US would gathered for the event to raise funds for MDC.

As with many charities, MDC fundraising initiatives have been hard hit by COVID. Over the past year, MDC had to cancel all in person fundraising events. As a result, they experienced a 60 per cent decrease in revenue in their first quarter.

With the SHAD’s Board of Director’s again having made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event–the 2020 edition was also cancelled–they have teamed up with MDC to create an online campaign in the hopes of providing MDC with much needed financial support.

SHAD’s R&R has created a video message from Chairman Brad Shaddick followed by a series of educational and inspirational video messages from MDC clinical researcher’s and benefactors of SHAD’s donation dollars.

“To keep Shad’s R&R top of mind, Shad’s board has been working closely with MD Canada. I encourage you to watch the two short videos,” says board chair Brad Shaddick. The videos provide information about recent advancements in research and treatments for muscular dystrophy.

Although there may be no SHAD’s R&R in-person event again this year, the mission and legacy of coming together and raising funds will continue, say organizers.

“Any amount donated is greatly appreciated,” says Shaddick.
