The Shad’s R&R aftermarket fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy research has been cancelled, breaking a 46 year tradition.

“At this extremely uncertain time right now, which we are all dealing with, the Shad’s R&R Board of Directors have decided that it is best to cancel this year’s event which was scheduled for Thursday June 11th,” wrote chairman Brad Shaddick, whose father Fred Shaddick, the event was named after .

“This will be the first cancellation of Shad’s R&R over its 46 consecutive year history. Obviously we are very disappointed about this decision but under the circumstances, we had no other option. We will now focus our efforts on Shad’s R&R 2021 which will be held on Thursday June 10th at Station Creek Golf and Country Club in Stouffville, Ontario.”

The event had raised more than $5 million for muscular dystrophy research and has perennially been the largest single day fundraiser for the cause.

“On behalf of the Board, we thank you again for your very generous support of Shads over the years and we wish all of you and your families the very best through this difficult time,” Shaddick concluded.
