John Allen Jackson, professor, Automotive Business School of Canada

News has reached us of the passing of John Allen Jackson, recently retired professor at the Automotive Business School of Canada.

He passed away at his home in Barrie, Ontario on November 3, 2023.

Jackson was a committed advocate of the school’s aftermarket programs and was a regular at aftermarket industry events in addition to his work at Georgian College in Barrie, Ont., home to the Automotive Business School of Canada.

In advising of his passing, the college offered his 25 year career at the institution was only part of his story.

“John’s passion for education was unparalleled. From earning his B.Ed at the University of Calgary to obtaining a post-graduate M.Ed at the University of Toronto, he dedicated himself to the pursuit of knowledge.

“John’s commitment to social justice and equal rights showcased his proud Canadian spirit. His involvement with the Ontario Humanist Association and the Mississauga East NDP exemplified his dedication to building a better, more equitable world.

“His influence extended beyond the classroom, touching the hearts of those who knew him. John’s sense of humour and love for learning were infectious, creating an environment where curiosity thrived.”

He was the proud father and father-in-law of Edwin Jackson and Victoria Gainsbury. He was loving Grandpa to Landon Jackson. Beloved son of Edwin and Dolores Jackson. Cherished brother of the late Constance Mae Jackson, Wyatt Jackson, and Paula Klinck (Keith). John will be deeply missed by his best friend Karen Gerard. Survived by his former wife Tara (nee Balramsingh) Jackson.

A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at The Simple Alternative, 1535 S Gateway, Mississauga, Ontario on November 18, 2023, at 11 am.
