As serious as this business is, there are facts about cars and parts that are just fun to think about.
75% of cars that Rolls-Royce has ever produced are still on the road.
Elon Musk did not found Tesla.
The company was actually founded by  Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning in 2003. Musk bought in as a major investor in 2004. Eberhardt’s association with Tesla ended under a cloud in 2009. Tarpenning left Tesla in 2008.
ABS is really old!
The first anti-lock brake system was created in 1958 by U.K.’s Road Research Laboratories. It was expensive but did end up used in the 1966 AWD Jensen FF Sports Sedan. Now it’s virtually impossible to find a road car without ABS.

The average car has about 30,000 parts.
What a difference 40 years makes!
A 1978 Mercedes-Benz C-Class came with a 2.0 L, 83 hp engine, weighed 1340 kg, and went from zero to 100 km/h in 16.1 seconds.
A 2018 C-Class has a 2.0L turbocharged 241 hp engine, weighs 1625 kg, and goes from zero to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
