The CARQUEST-Worldpac Charitable Foundation held its annual golf tournament in Guelph, Ont., raising $15,000 for the Children’s Breakfast Club, with this year’s event is serving as the cornerstone of what is becoming a broader grassroots fundraising effort.
“We are building the awareness of the CARQUEST-Worldpac Charitable Foundation,” says Marc Reynolds, Director Independent Sales, Ontario Division, CARQUEST Canada Ltd. “When we have local barbecues, local events with our stores, we now have a complete package that can be there and bring exposure to it.
Children’s Breakfast Club is a non-profit charitable organization that believes every child is entitled to a nutritious breakfast. An estimated 4,000 meals are served each week in the 20+ clubs across the Greater Toronto area.
This speaks specifically to the focus of the Foundation on supporting local community causes, says Reynolds.
“Because it really drives down to the community. We are trying to get this to the community level. The local communities are what we are supporting with this.
“So when our stores have events, it allows us to bring recognition to it,” by providing more materials and information available on the Foundation. “We are making a broader appeal.”
This expanded initiative kicked off this year and Reynolds says it has been very well received.
“We are getting a lot of positive response from the local communities and from our staff in supporting and participating in the activities, which is critical.”
