The winners of the Automechanika Innovation Awards 2018 have been announced. The awards have been given in honour of innovations in the automotive aftermarket since 1996.

The ten winners in three categories were chosen from a total of 120 entries. The jury of eight experts was made up of representatives of the industry, trade, associations, science and media.

The judging criteria were innovative content, solution excellence, functionality, aftermarket relevance, safety, security, quality, contribution to environmental protection, resource conservation and sustainability.

“Many companies orientate their innovation cycles to the dates of Automechanika Frankfurt”, said Automechanika Frankfurt Director Olaf Musshoff at the awards ceremony on the first day of the fair. “The density of innovations at Automechanika is incomparable. The Automechanika Innovation Awards are a valuable orientation aid for tomorrow’s trends in the sector. The ‘Festhalle’ should be an important port of call for every visitor to the fair.”

Automechanika exhibitors were invited to enter their new products in twelve categories: Parts & Components, Electronics & Systems, Accessories & Customizing, Repair & Diagnostics, Repair & Maintenance, Dealer & Workshop Management, Car Wash, Care & Reconditioning, Alternative Drive Systems & Digital Solutions, Tires, Classic Cars Products & Services, OE Products & Services and Truck Products & Services.

For the second time, the jury gave the ‘Green Award’ for the most sustainable new product among all entries, with Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH being singled out for this special prize for its Electronic Air Control (EAC). This new product was also the winner of the Automechanika Innovation Award in Truck Products & Services category.
