Autodrome Granby, located in Granby, Que. is kicking off its 2024 season with a celebration of its 2023 win in the Advance Auto Parts ‘Advance My Track Challenge.’

The track promises an exciting opening weekend, with attendance from Advance Auto Parts, Carquest and NASCAR on site.

The celebration will be part of the opening night of the 2024 racing season at Autodrome Granby on Friday, May 24. Originally scheduled for August last year, the event was postponed due to bad weather.

Activities will include an evening of Pro Stock Modified car racing on the half-mile dirt track at Autodrome Granby, capped off with a post-race fireworks display, presented by Advance and Carquest.

Gates to the event will open at 5 p.m. and practice will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Spectators at the dirt oval will also be treated to Sporstman and Sport Compact races.

Autodrome Granby won the 2023 “Advance My Track” challenge, which encouraged racing fans in the United States and Canada to vote for their favorite local NASCAR track to receive a US$50,000 prize. As winners of the challenge, the Autodrome Granby team used their winnings for various facility improvements, including the construction of a new field inspection garage, new interior track walls, a new grandstand in victory lane and renovations to their food stand in the pit area.

All the work took place during the track’s off-season, allowing competitors and fans to experience these improvements on the opening night of racing.

“During last year’s challenge, the passionate support of local fans and the community for Autodrome Granby was on full display,” said Mario Pageau, Carquest’s Quebec district manager.

“For nearly 60 years, Autodrome Granby has been the home of premier short track racing in Canada. We are thrilled to know that their winnings will help continue this great racing tradition for many years to come.”

“We are very happy to welcome everyone from Carquest and Advance Auto Parts to the track,” said Dominic Lussier, owner of Autodrome Granby. “This event sets the perfect tone for a highly anticipated 2024 racing season, providing a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this achievement with our fans. Winning the Advance My Track Challenge is huge for our track, our fans and the entire community that helped us achieve our goal. This evening of celebration will surely be remembered.”
