The Automotive Industries Association of Canada had the opportunity to network with industry representatives and delegates from the Government of Canada at the 2018 Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters’ Annual General Meeting & Manufacturing Conference, and reinforce the role of the aftermarket in the changing technological landscape.

The event was held in Ottawa on November 7th, 2018.

At the event, AIA representatives had the opportunity to speak with the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development following his speech.

President JF Champagne emphasized how access to vehicle data is important to the aftermarket industry so the sector can remain a competitive player and continue to innovate.  The Minister acknowledged the issue of data sharing as an important subject and encourages AIA to continue the dialogue with stakeholders to raise awareness on this issue.

AIA says it will continue to participate in the national multi-stakeholder advisory group, Car of the Future, and other consultations facilitated by the federal government on the deployment of automated vehicles and connected vehicles.
