Aftermarket veteran Don Hannah, 86, passes away

Aftermarket veteran Don Hannah passed away peacefully surrounded by his three children on Monday July 29, 2019 at the Post Inn Village in Oakville, Ont., at the age of 86. 

Don was the beloved husband of Ellie for almost 60 years, father of Ron (Phyllis), Susan, and Lisa (Matt) Kohler and grandfather to Kelsey, Hannah, Jane and Ryan.

Don was a veteran of the Canadian automotive aftermarket and spent many years in the refinish industry. For decades starting in 1960 he was with PPG, eventually rising to director of the paint supplier’s refinish business in North America.

Following his retirement, in 1997, he was recruited by Michigan-based Painters Supply & Equipment Co. to be president and CEO and was instrumental in their expansion, particularly in Southern Ontario.

Don Hannah was also a member of the Shad’s R&R aftermarket industry charity’s founding board of directors.

A celebration of life will take place at the Dodsworth and Brown Funeral Home, Burlington, Ont., on Saturday August 17, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. with shared memories at 2:30 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer`s Society Hamilton/Halton Region or the Salvation Army.
