AAPEX and SEMA reaffirm commitment to Las Vegas events

In recent days the organizers of the AAPEX and SEMA automotive aftermarket events have reaffirmed their commitment to holding the events safely, even as COVID-19 variants force up cases and concerns.

“At a time when COVID is back in the headlines, SEMA wants you to know that the association is 100% committed to holding the 2021 SEMA Show, November 2–5, and showcasing two years of product innovations, vehicle trends, and industry-leading education,” said Tom Gattuso, SEMA vice president of events.

“The SEMA Show is the only place in the world that brings together the people, products, vehicles, and ideas that drive the aftermarket industry.”

AAPEX, which is owned by the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association and the Auto Care Association, communicated similar sentiments to The Greensheet industry newsletter.

AAPEX spokesperson Liz Goad, director of events and meetings at AASA, told The Greensheet: “We have been speaking regularly with exhibitors and attendees who emphasize the importance of AAPEX and the strong desire to reconnect as an industry. We are working hard to ensure proper health and safety precautions are in place and look forward to welcoming everyone to our homecoming event in November.”

The COVID landscape is changing week to week. Both SEMA and AAPEX organizers say more information will be forthcoming about the specific measures that will be required in November.

“Meanwhile, the basics are in place. The Las Vegas Convention Center has been awarded the GBAC STAR certification, which demonstrates the highest standards for daily cleaning, air filtration, and sanitization. It is the gold standard for safe facilities,” said SEMA’s Gattuso.

Similarly high ratings have been earned by the Venetian/Sands Expo Centre, where AAPEX is to be held.
