MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers has released a new research report that explores the rapidly evolving market for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in the aftermarket.
Titled “ADAS Aftermarket Service Ecosystem 2035: Navigating the ADAS Adoption Curve,” the report provides insights into the projected growth, service opportunities and industry shifts being driven by ADAS adoption and is an update to the landmark 2022 MEMA study, “ADAS Aftermarket Service Ecosystem 2030: The Coming Wave of Aftermarket Opportunity.”
Among the key findings:
ADAS technologies are reducing crash rates but also changing how vehicles are serviced and repaired. The ADAS parts and service market is expected to grow at a 9.5% CAGR through 2035.
By 2031, mechanical repair shops are projected to overtake collision shops in the volume of ADAS calibration and service work. The influx of ADAS features is introducing new players and reshaping traditional repair workflows
“ADAS system service and calibrations represent the fastest-growing area of the industry,” said Jim Fish, MEMA’s Technology Advisor.
“The research data presents a compelling picture for component suppliers and repair facilities to be bullish on the ADAS market and that clearly includes the mechanical channel.”
In addition to the report, MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers continues to drive progress through its Mobility Technology Council (MTC) and the council’s dedicated ADAS Work Group.
The MTC helps members understand where technology is headed, how they can leverage vehicle technologies to grow business and how they can help the end users (shops) better prepare for emerging technologies. The ADAS Work Group is currently updating its 2024 white paper, ” ADAS: Defined | Growth | Concerns | Recommendations,” and remains active in cross-industry efforts to solve pressing issues like calibration standards and service readiness.
“MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers is committed to ensuring members are equipped to lead through technological change,” said Chris Gardner, senior vice president of programs and technology at MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers.
“This report underscores the critical need for investment in ADAS service capabilities and highlights the opportunities ahead for aftermarket businesses that adapt. Also, the report and the MTC ADAS Work Group deliverables highlight concerns around ADAS like the inability to know how well safety systems perform on vehicles in between service appointments and calibrations.”
MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers encourages members to engage with the Mobility Technology Council to stay ahead of the ADAS curve and shape the future of mobility.
